Season’s Greetings to you all,

Please see below a copy of the letter we received from Our Lady’s Children Hospital in Crumlin regarding a donation from Contech to their Children’s Medical & Research Foundation.

Dear Oliver,

On behalf of the Children’s Medical & Research Foundation at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, I would like to thank you for your generous donation this Christmas.

We want you to know that your gift has had an enormous impact in fixing Crumlin. When we started our campaign last March we had a target of €8m. I am delighted to be able to tell you that we are coming ever closer to delivery dates. We only have another €2m to raise.

In St. John’s, our cancer ward, conditions are already getting better for the 140 children receiving treatment right now. We completed the construction of Phase 1 which has delivered a new spacious state of the art 4 bedded Bone Marrow Transplant Unit complete with en-suites and rooming in facilities for parents as well as 7 new single rooms, all ensuite. All have rooming in facilities for parents/guardians.

This is an incredible achievement. There is still an air of incredulity in the hospital. Private rooms finally with private bathrooms, a world away from what our patients and their families only recently had to endure. The difference that these major developments are already making to children and families facing a devastating diagnosis of cancer is immeasurable. Only a couple of months ago there were no private rooms for the most critical or terminally ill children, no private bathrooms for patients or their families and only three bathrooms for 20 beds.

In addition, I’m pleased to let you know that we are nearing completion of our new cardiac unit. Finally thanks to people like you children and their parents can be accommodated comfortably in up-to-date facilities.

Thanks again for your extraordinary gift. Your role in making that difference is incredible.

Kind regards,
Rachel Daly
